ANZEC members receive Order of Australia Medal

ANZEC members Curt Jenner and Micheline Jenner each received an Order of Australia Medal for their significant contribution to conservation and the environment, particularly whale research in Western Australia.

Their Centre for Whale Research based out of Fremantle has been extremely valuable in studying and raising awareness about whale migration on the west coast. In their work they have studied migration routes, calving, whale nurseries, ambient noise of the ocean, whale songs, population dynamics, Humpback whale habitats for conservation, satellite tagging and photography.

This list of their research does not even begin to cover the joys and sorrows of building their own yacht and raising their daughters for a life on the sea chasing whales. I highly recommend this incredible podcast with ABC radio where Micheline tells tales of her life as a whale watcher.
