Watch SpaceX's Historic Fram2 Astronaut Mission Return to Saturday 3:19am
The splashdown is expected around 3:19 a.m. Saturday (Sydney Time).
SpaceX's Fram2 mission, the first crewed mission ever to orbit Earth over the poles, will return today (April 4), and you can watch it live.
On board is ANZEC member Eric Philips, the first astronaut to be flagged by Australia.
Fram2's Crew Dragon capsule, named Resilience, is scheduled to splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California today at approximately 12:19 p.m. EDT (16:19 GMT), which corresponds to 3:19 a.m. Saturday in Sydney.
SpaceX will webcast the homecoming live via its website and X account, starting about an hour before the splashdown.
The Fram2 mission launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the night of March 31, sending four spaceflight rookies into orbit.
The crew includes Maltese cryptocurrency billionaire Chun Wang, who funded and commands the mission; vehicle commander Jannicke Mikkelsen from Norway; pilot Rabea Rogge from Germany; and Australian Eric Philips, the mission specialist and medical officer.
During its orbit, Fram2 has conducted 22 science experiments, including one called "Mushroom," aiming to grow mushrooms in space for the first time.
