A Geograhy Honours Graduate with Post Graduate Diplomas in Education and Computer Mapping, Professional Association Diving Instructors (PADI)Master Instructor, PADI Course Director / Instructor Trainer, numerous PADI Specialty Instructor ratings including Cavern, wreck and deep, Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer (including First Aid at a Workplace), Full Member of the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society, member of the Cave Divers Association of Australia, A Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and a Certified Practicing Marketer.
Way back in 1972 he won the Australian Intervarsity Championships in Marine Knowledge. After a period in the academic field, Terry began a distinguished career in the dive industry including a stint in scuba retailing as the Managing Director of Pro Dive, SeaLife Travel, Editor-In-Chief of Underwater Geographic Magazine and involvement in the production and promotion of several underwater documentaries.
Terry has co-founded and over the years served as a senior officer on several dive industry associations across the Asia Pacific region, including those connected with dive industry development, Dive Equipment Marketing Association (DEMA) Asian Advisory Council, dive tourism, Occupational Health and Safety, Standards Australia and industrial relations.
A PADI Instructor since 1972, and from 1982 to 2012, Terry was employed by PADI in various senior roles, including; CEO PADI Australia, International Vice President of PADI Worldwide and Director of Market Development for PADI's Technical Diving Division.
Together with his wife Cathie, he now has a consultancy company that involves public speaking, adventure projects and business training for both dive businesses and industry generally.
Terry has published numerous papers and articles. He is also the recipient of several prestigious awards including; "Australian Scuba Excellence Award”, “Oceanic Legends Award” and the “OZteK Award (Contribution to the Development of Technical Diving)”.
Terry has had a long time passion for deep, wreck and cave diving. He was one of the early explorers of the Mount Gambier Underwater caves (Australia) back in 60s and has now turned his attention to the cave system / Cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico).
